What is the difference between "to depict" and "to represent?" I don't understand.
I was asked this question recently. It's a great question. “To depict” means “to show or represent something in a work of art such as a drawing or painting.” https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/depict. Although “represent” is listed as a synonym of “depict,” “represent” has many additional definitions: https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/represent. We cannot use depict in any of the following sentences. Space flight still represents a great challenge. Metrocable and the metro represent huge improvements in transportation in Medellín. Business English Online represents a fantastic opportunity to study English according to your schedule. (The previous sentence represents an advertisement for me.) Have a fantastic day!!
